Welcome to High Kicks, Rochester's
premier training studio in Taekwon-Do,
Korea's martial art. Get fit, make new
friends, or just have fun learning an
intense combination of self-defense
techniques. You do not need to be in
great shape to start. No previous martial

non-competitive environment for people
of all athletic abilities. Enjoy plenty of
one-on-one instruction to ensure safe
and proper technique. Plenty of space,

Taekwon-Do is a version of unarmed combat
designed for the purpose of self-defense. The body
gains ultimate use of it's facilities through
intensive physical and mental training.
"Tae" means to jump, fly, or kick with the foot.
"Kwon" means to punch or strike with the hand or
fist. "Do" means the art or way that was built from
the past.
Taekwon-Do when used for the wrong purpose can
be a lethal weapon. That is why mental training
must be taught to prevent the student from
misusing it. Taekwon-Do is sometimes practiced
for the exercise alone by the young and old,
resulting in time well-spent on physical fitness.
Generation of Power
Sine Wave is a term used to transfer energy from
one's bodymass to the body's extremities; namely
the arms and legs. This is accomplished with up
and down movements of bodymass and hip
movements, which generates an increase of speed
and power for kicks, punches, and blocks.
